Google's Gemini Live Goes Live

Google moves Gemini to voice interactions!

At a Glance

Google just dropped a bomb at its Pixel 9 event with the announcement of Gemini Live. This is Gemini's version of "Advanced Voice Mode" and actually looks promising. Originally announced earlier this year at Google I/O, it's a shock to some that it's been released relatively quickly. One feature that Generative AI hasn't been able to capture yet is voice assistants, are we seeing the tides turning with Google now?

Deeper Learning

Gemini Live’s Key Features: Gemini Live introduces voice chat mode, allowing users to interact with AI in a more natural, free-flowing manner. This mode supports a variety of tasks, from answering questions to providing detailed information on complex topics. Users can now access these features directly through their Google devices, and even ask questions about their other Google apps, making Gemini Live a seamless addition to their daily routines. The AI assistant also comes preloaded with 10 different voice variations and will be available on iOS in the coming weeks.

How to Access Gemini Live: Gemini Live is currently only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers on Android phones. Pixel Pro 9 users get a bonus with free access to the Google One AI Premium Plan, including Gemini Live, for the first year. Take a look at the live demo below!

So What?

Google’s Gemini Live looks to be a game-changer in the realm of AI-assisted communication. By making voice chat and real-time information retrieval more accessible, Google is really pushing the boundaries on what Gemini is becoming. When announced at Google I/O, it also seemed like Gemini Live was multimodal, which allowed it to "see" the world around you, so we'll be on the lookout for that too.
